# Queries

> The questions Slingso asks the AI Shopping Channel for you.

A query is a question a shopper asks the AI Shopping Channel: *best vitamin C serum for oily skin under \$50.* Every number is measured on your queries. Queries run in your workspace's market.

## By stage

Each query sits at one of five stages: awareness, research, comparison, validation, purchase. Setup gives you five brand queries and five per hero product, one per stage. Awareness and research queries don't name your brand.

## Add one

* Say `slingso check <query>` to try it once. Say yes to keep it.
* Or use **Add query** on [Coverage](/guide/dashboard-and-coverage).

Fields: query (required), stage, product, persona. It runs from your next check.

> [!TIP]
>
> The best queries sound like a real shopper, not a keyword: specific, with the constraints people actually say out loud (budget, skin type, use case, "for beginners", "under \$40").

## Personas

One per query. Growth asks the query as that shopper; on other plans a persona is context for analysis. To ask the same question as someone else, pause it and add it again.

## Pause or resume

Not every question is worth tracking forever. Pause any query from its detail page and Slingso stops running it. Its history stays, ready for when you turn it back on.

Paused queries collect under the **Paused** filter on [Coverage](/guide/dashboard-and-coverage), labelled by why they stopped: you paused it, or a plan change did (Free has one product).
